WHY PRAY PODCAST

WHY PRAY? To strengthen the inner man by building up yourself spiritually in worship. To be able to stand up to whatever life throws at you. On the Why Pray podcast host Nesha Wonderland provides nourishment for the soul through meditating on scriptures, sharing Bible history, and intercessory prayer.

After her husband was removed from the country during the year of 2014 Nesha began going through a deep battle with depression. As a result in searching for hope and help during the 4 year separation she grew a deeper relationship with Christ through prayer and meditating on scriptures that were apart of the "Bible Promises" Book. Learning how to meditate and properly breath after studying the scriptures in daily life during her work lunch break provided her with spiritual growth that transformed her battle with depression into a joyful relationship with Christ. Spending time with God can became spirItual workouts where the Holy Spirit is the trainer guiding which "muscles" aka "mental issues" need to be dealt with. While Nesha is still battling the immigration system Nesha remains spiritually fit and connected by recording the podcast as spiritual nourishment to pull from and share with others who may also need help getting through hard times and would like to build up spiritual strength and a relationship with Jesus through worship. FEED YOU SOUL! WHY PRAY episodes available below!

EPISODE 2 - ANGER

PSALMS 145:8 - The Lord is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy.

NEHEMIAH 9:17 - They refused to listen and obey,

And did not remember Your wondrous acts which You had performed among them;

So they stiffened their necks and [in their rebellion] appointed a leader in order to return them to slavery in Egypt.

But You are a God of forgiveness,

Gracious and merciful and compassionate,

[a]Slow to anger and abounding in loving kindness;

And You did not abandon them.

JAMES 1:19-20 - Understand this, my beloved brothers and sisters. Let everyone be quick to hear [be a careful, thoughtful listener], slow to speak [a speaker of carefully chosen words and], slow to anger [patient, reflective, forgiving]; 20 for the [resentful, deep-seated] anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God [that standard of behavior which He requires from us].

ECCLESIASTES 7:9 - Do not be eager in your heart to be angry,

For anger dwells in the heart of fools.

PROVERBS 16:32 - He who is slow to anger is better and more honorable than the mighty [soldier],

And he who rules and controls his own spirit, than he who captures a city.

EPISODE 3 - SIN

PSALMS 51:

51 Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your lovingkindness;

According to the greatness of Your compassion blot out my transgressions.

Wash me thoroughly from my wickedness and guilt

And cleanse me from my sin.

3

For I am conscious of my transgressions and I acknowledge them;

My sin is always before me.

4

Against You, You only, have I sinned

And done that which is evil in Your sight,

So that You are justified when You speak [Your sentence]

And faultless in Your judgment.

5

I was brought forth in [a state of] wickedness;

In sin my mother conceived me [and from my beginning I, too, was sinful].

6

Behold, You desire truth in the innermost being,

And in the hidden part [of my heart] You will make me know wisdom.

7

Purify me with [a]hyssop, and I will be clean;

Wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.

8

Make me hear joy and gladness and be satisfied;

Let the bones which You have broken rejoice.

9

Hide Your face from my sins

And blot out all my iniquities.

10

Create in me a clean heart, O God,

And renew a right and steadfast spirit within me.

11

Do not cast me away from Your presence

And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.

12

Restore to me the joy of Your salvation

And sustain me with a willing spirit.

13

Then I will teach transgressors Your ways,

And sinners shall be converted and return to You.

14

Rescue me from bloodguiltiness, O God, the God of my salvation;

Then my tongue will sing joyfully of Your righteousness and Your justice.

15

O Lord, open my lips,

That my mouth may declare Your praise.

ISAIAH 53:4-7

But [in fact] He has borne our griefs,

And He has carried our sorrows and pains;

Yet we [ignorantly] assumed that He was stricken,

Struck down by God and degraded and humiliated [by Him].

5

But He was wounded for our transgressions,

He was crushed for our wickedness [our sin, our injustice, our wrongdoing];

The punishment [required] for our well-being fell on Him,

And by His stripes (wounds) we are healed.

6

All of us like sheep have gone astray,

We have turned, each one, to his own way;

But the Lord has caused the wickedness of us all [our sin, our injustice, our wrongdoing]

To fall on Him [instead of us].

7

He was oppressed and He was afflicted,

Yet He did not open His mouth [to complain or defend Himself];

Like a lamb that is led to the slaughter,

And like a sheep that is silent before her shearers,

So He did not open His mouth.

God bless yall. Amen

Though I fall, I will rise;Though I sit in the darkness [of distress], the Lord is a light for me.I will bear the indignation and wrath of the Lord

Because I have sinned against Him,Until He pleads my case and executes judgment for me.

He will bring me out to the light,And I will behold His [amazing] righteousness and His remarkable deliverance.

Psalms 18:2 -The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and the One who rescues me;

My God, my rock and strength in whom I trust and take refuge;

And let us lift up His name together.

I sought the Lord [on the authority of His word], and He answered me,

And delivered me from all my fears.

They looked to Him and were radiant;

Their faces will never blush in shame or confusion.

This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him

And saved him from all his troubles.

The [b]angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him [with awe-inspired reverence and worship Him with obedience],

And He rescues [each of] them.

O taste and see that the Lord [our God] is good;

How blessed [fortunate, prosperous, and favored by God] is the man who takes refuge in Him.

The Lord of hosts is His name;

And your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel,

Who is called the God of the whole earth.

6

“For the Lord has called you,

Like a wife who has been abandoned, grieved in spirit,

And like a wife [married] in her youth when she is [later] rejected and scorned,”

Says your God.

7

“For a brief moment I abandoned you,

But with great compassion and mercy I will gather you [to Myself again].

You are honored and I love you,

I will give other men in return for you and other peoples in exchange for your life.

And we are the people of His pasture and the sheep of His hand.

Today, if you will hear His voice,

Romans 8:26-27 -In the same way the Spirit [comes to us and] helps us in our weakness. We do not know what prayer to offer or how to offer it as we should, but the Spirit Himself [knows our need and at the right time] intercedes on our behalf with sighs and groanings too deep for words. 27 And He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because the Spirit intercedes [before God] on behalf of [a]God’s people in accordance with God’s will.

Psalms 37:1-9 -  [a]Do not worry because of evildoers,

Nor be envious toward wrongdoers;

For they will wither quickly like the grass,

And fade like the green herb.

Trust [rely on and have confidence] in the Lord and do good;

Dwell in the land and feed [securely] on His faithfulness.

Delight yourself in the Lord,

And He will give you the desires and petitions of your heart.

Commit your way to the Lord;

Trust in Him also and He will do it.

He will make your righteousness [your pursuit of right standing with God] like the light,

And your judgment like [the shining of] the noonday [sun].

Be still before the Lord; wait patiently for Him and entrust yourself to Him;

Do not fret (whine, agonize) because of him who prospers in his way,

Because of the man who carries out wicked schemes.

Cease from anger and abandon wrath;

Do not fret; it leads only to evil.

For those who do evil will be cut off,

But those who wait for the Lord, they will inherit the land.

Proverbs 3:1-6 -My son, do not forget my [a]teaching,

But let your heart keep my commandments;

Do not let mercy and kindness and truth leave you [instead let these qualities define you];

Bind them [securely] around your neck,

Write them on the tablet of your heart.

So find favor and high esteem

In the sight of God and man.

Trust in and rely confidently on the Lord with all your heart

And do not rely on your own insight or understanding.

[b]In all your ways know and acknowledge and recognize Him,

And He will make your paths straight and smooth [removing obstacles that block your way].

EPISODE 13 - PATIENCE

James 5:7-8

So wait patiently, brothers and sisters, until the coming of the Lord. The farmer waits [expectantly] for the precious harvest from the land, being patient about it, until it receives the early and late rains. 8 You too, be patient; strengthen your hearts [keep them energized and firmly committed to God], because the coming of the Lord is near.

James 5:13-18

Is anyone among you suffering? He must pray. Is anyone joyful? He is to sing praises [to God]. 14 Is anyone among you sick? He must call for the elders (spiritual leaders) of the church and they are to pray over him, anointing him with [a]oil in the name of the Lord; 15 and the prayer of faith will restore the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up; and if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. 16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another [your false steps, your offenses], and pray for one another, that you may be healed and restored. The heartfelt and persistent prayer of a righteous man (believer) can accomplish much [when put into action and made effective by God—it is dynamic and can have tremendous power]. 17 Elijah was a man with a nature like ours [with the same physical, mental, and spiritual limitations and shortcomings], and he prayed [b]intensely for it not to rain, and it did not rain on the earth for three years and six months.18 Then he prayed again, and the sky gave rain and the land produced its crops [as usual].

1 Peter 1:3-12

3 Blessed [gratefully praised and adored] be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant and boundless mercy has caused us to be born again [that is, to be reborn from above—spiritually transformed, renewed, and set apart for His purpose] to an ever-living hope and confident assurance through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 [born anew] into an inheritance which is imperishable [beyond the reach of change] and undefiled and unfading, reserved in heaven for you, 5 who are being protected and shielded by the power of God through your faith for salvation that is ready to be revealed [for you] in the last time. 6 In this you rejoice greatly, even though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been distressed by various trials, 7 so that the genuineness of your faith, which is much more precious than gold which is perishable, even though tested and purified by fire, may be found to result in [your] praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ. 8 Though you have not seen Him, you love Him; and though you do not even see Him now, you believe and trust in Him and you greatly rejoice and delight with inexpressible and glorious joy, 9 receiving as the result [the outcome, the consummation] of your faith, the salvation of [a]your souls.

1 Peter 5:2-5

shepherd and guide and protect the flock of God among you, exercising oversight not under compulsion, but voluntarily, according to the will of God; and not [motivated] for shameful gain, but with wholehearted enthusiasm; 3 not lording it over those assigned to your care [do not be arrogant or overbearing], but be examples [of Christian living] to the flock [set a pattern of integrity for your congregation]. 4 And when the Chief Shepherd (Christ) appears, you will receive the [conqueror’s] unfading crown of glory. 5 Likewise, you younger men [of lesser rank and experience], be subject to your elders [seek their counsel]; and all of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another [tie on the servant’s apron], for God is opposed to the proud [the disdainful, the presumptuous, and He defeats them], but He gives grace to the humble.
